UN Human Rights Policy Network (HURITALK)
HURITALK is a virtual network which facilitates dialogue among UN country officers on human rights in a development context. A key objective of HURITALK is to strengthen the capacity of practitioners to integrate human-rights based approaches in their work. Members share information and tools, good practice and lessons learned, and build knowledge on best strategies for integrating human rights norms and principles into development policy and programmes. First Step: How Does this Apply to You?
Are you unsure whether or not this information is relevant to the work you are doing in your country? Click on http://www.ohchr.org/EN/Countries/Pages/HumanRightsintheWorld.aspx and find your country's page. There, you will see which treaties your country has (or hasn't) signed and ratified, its reporting status, as well as the most recent Treaty Body and Special Procedures visits, reports and observations/recommendations to your country.
Take a moment to look through some of the recommendations that have been made to your government. You will likely see that many of these suggestions, issues and areas of concern are similar to the ones that you may have already considered in your day-to-day work and programming activities including the CCA/UNDAF process. You may even find some new areas to consider.
