Seminar on the MDGs and Human Rights: Producing National
Reports with an Emphasis on Rights
On 25th and 26th of June, government officials and UN staff from seven Latin American
countries (Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay and Uruguay) gathered
in Santiago de Chile to discuss on how to integrate human rights within national MDG Reports.
The workshop was an inter-agency initiative of ECLAC and the Regional Offices of UNFPA, UNDP,
UNICEF and OHCHR. Participants and experts from different agencies discussed about the relation
between MDGs and human rights and shared experiences on practical ways of applying a HRBA to NMDGRs.
A CD Rom with the results of this activity will shortly be available, and follow-up work will
include practical guidance on how to integrate human rights in NMDGRs. For more information please
